Updates time.
My first week has gone smoothly, I love all of my professors, and have made some great friendships already. I have five classes this semester: Chemistry 1, Greek 1, Core Math, Core Philosophy, and Freshman Seminar. Plus I’ll be on CUI’s debate team. I also wanted to learn violin and audit a physics class, but after one week I’m fairly certain that would be impossible without my grades suffering greatly!
I don’t have much time, so I’ll leave you with something a retiring theology prof here at CUI told me on my first day,
“Your vocation now is that of a student. Remember that and you’ll do fine.” - Dr. Rosenbladt
I love the Lutheran Doctrine of vocation… It really helps me to prioritize life:
Church.
Classes.
Family.
Friends.
Debate.
…
and way down here… Blog.
When there are conflicts, I will chose my primary vocations of Christian, Student, Son, Brother, Friend, and CUI debater over the vocation of blogger. Sorry, that's just the order of my vocations right now...
For more on Vocation, see “God at Work” by Gene Edward Veith Jr. It's good stuff. And it's Gospel, not law.
Soli Deo Gloria,
- Jonah
